"Embroidery Book" by Erica Wilson. This book is signed by the
author. This book contains information on Crewel,
Needlepoint, Black work, White Work, Stump Work and Applique. Full
directions, with stitch diagrams, are given in each chapter with many
illustrations of old and contemporary examples. Design, color and the
choice of stitches are fully discussed.
The story of each type of work set in it's historic background makes
fascinating reading, but the essence of the book is the application of traditional
techniques to modern designs and uses. It will not only inspire the beginner but help the
experienced embroiderers to learn new skills and explore the endless possibilities
of
original stitch and color combinations.

This is a gently used book. "Crewel Embroidery
Old and New" by Weldon's Editors - copyright 1963. This hard cover book is 96 pages
in length. The introduction to crewel embroidery, the stitches, and the section on Old
English Crewel are adapted - with revisions necessary for American use - from Encyclopedia
of Needlework. Published by Hearthside Press Inc., New York, under an arrangement with
Everybody's Publications Ltd. The sections entitled: Early American Crewel and
Contemporary American Crewel and Contemporary American Crewel are new, as are twenty-six
photographs. There is no dust jacket with this book.
